Bugs I’ve experienced with the latest version:
It is possible to softlock the game if you mess around with the menu while facing the 4 symbol puzzle.
Trying to exit the game while in the middle of gameplay seemingly doesn’t work. I couldn’t figure out a way to quit back out to the main menu and or desktop from there while tinkering with the controls without relying on alt + f4.
Dying to the [redacted] froze the screen leading to another softlock scenario. I could still hear my character moving around and reacting to my buttons as though I wasn’t dead. (Bad luck on my part? I pressed r too soon and too late at the same time maybe?)
FYI, I did eventually finish the game and thought it was outstanding despite those hiccups.
Hello!
Thank you very much for reporting these bugs. It helps a lot!
I managed to fix the first two bugs you mentioned, but I'm having trouble replicating the third one. Could you please give me more information about how it happened?
So essentially and I only redacted this to prevent spoilers for other itch.io users. There is this mechanic where you can ward off the monster by pressing R from entering the room if the game signals that it’s already too close to it for the flashlight to be enough. And apparently during my first attempt I took too long and it did in fact reach the door. When I realized this I quickly in a spazzing out motion tried to press the button and might’ve let it go instead of holding it down and the monster proceeded to barge into the room with the screen turning discolored as it stares directly into my face. This is when I am assuming a game over screen was supposed to show up and a retry button (something like that) and… nothing. It was just stuck like that facing the monster, but it kept playing the sounds as if my character was still responding to the regular inputs pre-death when I tried to get something to happen.
Hope this makes it clearer. I am going off of rough memory since it’s been a bit, but I tried my best to recollect the events.
Thank you very much, all have been fixed! (Hopefully)
Thanks a lot for reporting these. Would you mind if I add you to the credits as a special thanks?
That is very good to hear.
And, I do not mind.
NICE
Hello, thank you very much for the gameplay! :)
Kuri, she supports a.i slop!
Huh, well I didn't know or support that, but it was still nice of them to play my game
Really?
very unsettling atmosphere! the controls are strange but in a fun intuitive way. i'd maybe consider during the fixed camera angle bits changing from the locked cursor to a free floating one (while the MC's head follows the cursor still) but otherwise i am quite intrigued and am in love with the art style! will be following your progress!
Thank you very much!!
I did have that idea of controlling the cursor with the mouse during the fixed camera angle parts, but I didn't know how to implement it. Also, I didn't have time to make it for the game jam, but I will definitely try to add it to the next update of the game. Thank you very much for the feedback!!
